Executive coach
Delia Lloyd

Through her enthusiastic, hands-on approach, Delia empowers clients to write, speak and lead more effectively. What makes Delia's coaching distinctive is that she thinks with the logic and rigor of a social scientist but communicates with the flair and fluidity of a journalist. This dual emphasis on coherence and engagement permeates her approach to helping you craft your message, whether you are presenting a keynote speech, delivering a presentation, writing a report, or leading a team.

Delia has coached senior executives, researchers, and thought leaders globally on public speaking, presentation skills, and business writing. She has also helped startups to boost their communication skills through the LSE Generate and Zinc accelerators.

Delia holds a PhD in political science from Stanford University and has taught public policy and international development at MIT and The University of Chicago. During 2001-2002, she was a Senior Development Adviser at the United States Treasury Department, where she was a Council on Foreign Relations International Affairs Fellow. Delia spent five years as the Head of Policy and Research Insight at BBC Media Action, the BBC’s International development charity.

A seasoned journalist, Delia's reporting and commentaries have appeared in outlets including The New York Times, The Financial Times, The Washington Post and the BBC World Service. She is a featured contributor at This Curious Life, the flagship publication of UK's National Innovation Centre Ageing.

Coaching style or approach:

  • Writing Coaching
Drawing on her extensive experience as a writer and an editor, Delia is strong on both style and structure. She marks up writing samples extensively in advance of the coaching session in order to help clients zero in on central areas for improvement.
  • Speaking Coaching
Delia films her clients in order to isolate what’s going well and what can be improved. In addition to a wealth of material on content, delivery, slides and Q&A, Delia also offers techniques for managing nerves.
  • Productivity Coaching
Delia's productivity coaching introduces a range of project and time-management tools, as well as methods (where relevant) for overcoming writer’s block
